The American people have spoken, history has been made and the expectations have been set. Congratulations to Messrs. Obama and Biden on your convincing win of the Presidential/Vice Presidential election.
Your message of hope and change has resonated with voters and now you have the opportunity to fulfill the promise. In many ways your challenge is even greater, because people are so hopeful that you are indeed the real deal.
People have emotionally invested themselves in you and your message. They believe in you. Please, whatever you do, don't let them down. Now is the time to show them you're true to your word and that you're not politics as usual.
As you promised, we must place our money and political will behind the development of a comprehensive energy policy targeting alternative energy technology such as wind, wave, solar, hydro, fuel cells, natural gas, electric cars, etc. Through your leadership, government can establish incentives and let the private sector make it work. The U.S.A. can be a world leader in green technology, creating millions of high paying jobs and enabling us to begin re-industrialization of this country while reducing our dependence on foreign oil.
In addition to establishment of a green energy industrial base, we need to re-industrialize this country in general. We have lost many industries that are critical to the security of our country: steel, aluminum, critical minerals, manufacturing, etc. We need to somehow reinvigorate the industries that are critical to national security.
Our economy cannot continue to depend on consumer spending for growth. This policy has put us in our current position. Consumers are up to their neck in debt and the future has seemed so dim until now. Middle class consumers can no longer shoulder the responsibility of economic growth. We need to manufacture products once again that are of value to Americans and foreign customers as well.
We must improve our educational system. It is critical that we increase graduation rates, math and science scores, reading skills. The United States Of America should not be producing young adults who can't read at a basic level. As we move deeper into the technology age, our students must be capable of working and competing with the best and brightest.
There are numerous other challenges that need drastic action: health-care, crime, improvement of our international standing, etc, etc, etc. It's a full boat gentlemen; probably the toughest challenge facing new leadership in decades.
The future of our country is truly at stake here. Many people feel politicians have sold this country down the river in many ways. They're looking to you to turn it around. Best of luck in resolving the challenges ahead. We believe you can make it happen.

Yeah team. The world and nation have a new degree of hope tonight. This is a great moment in history.

I remember ’64 and the promise of Kennedy. I slowly came around to Obama and am viewing the future with optimism on many levels. I hope he fulfills my potential for him.
Election night, I was very proud to be an American again (the ’68 election, Vietnam War, and subsequent political shenanigans took that feeling from my heart). Watching the long lines of folks waiting to vote, knowing that this time there was a choice, that I could vote for someone instead of against, and then, and then watching McCain’s touching concession speech moved me as much as watching Obama speaking at Grant’s Park. It was a very special night.

Yes, I felt the same way. There are many, however, who are still angry over the decision. I am still receiving emails from diehard McCain supporters who can't yet accept the decision. If we are to take this nation forward, the devisiveness has to end. I hope Obama takes some decisive action, makes the right call, and shows the doubters that he has what it takes to take this country in a new direction. In the meantime, the naysayers need to put their disappointment aside and support their new president.
