He hasn't even been sworn in yet and people are already setting aggressive expectations for President-elect Obama. True, he has his work cut out for him, but we all need to set our expectations at a reasonable level. It took years to get into this mess and it won't be resolved in 90 days.
What we need to look at initially is what type of team he's surrounding himself with. Are they strong people that will take action to address the issues or will they play the Washington game and, to paraphrase a Texas saying, be all hat and no cattle?
Secondly, what types of policies is he implementing? On the surface, do they make sense? Are they truly being crafted to address the issue at hand or are they more politics as usual?
The American people are fairly adept at smelling BS. If things start getting smelly in the first 100 days, then we'll know. If not, we may just have elected a person who will indeed make history.
Being a minority, we will probably expect twice the results from him for equivalent credit. This isn't equitable, but it is more likely to be the reality than not.
If Obama delivers, then he will have accomplished something truly great!
